Terrible Company is not a terrible game
|

It's not a terrible game; in fact, it's quite excellent. This review is in regards to the multiplayer as I have not completed the single player yet. I'm sure most people are primarily getting the game for multiplayer like with COD.
I'm sure there will be an influx of reviews giving the game 1 star and argumentative about the graphics or comparing it to MW2. Here's a few things to remember:
1) The environments are gigantic
2) There's vehicles being used all throughout the map
3) Destructible environments
What does all that mean? It means that the game just isn't going to look quite as excellent or have a comparable framerate as MW2. The Xbox has finite resources and when they make a game of this scale lacking any loading taking place during gameplay, you have to sacrifice a touch.
But, I wouldn't necessarily say that a sacrifice in graphics or framerate is a terrible thing. When you experience the magnitude of the giant before a live audience fields and the destruction taking place, you should be able to promptly forget all about the smooth polygons in MW2.
Doubtless the largest pro for me in this game is that it encourages collaboration. In MW2, most people are just worrying about their K/D ratio and trying to complete challenges by getting the most kills. In BC2, more points are rewarded for assisting the team an completing objectives. If this is a touch that intrests you and you're sick of all the "lone wolves," then you should certainly check this game out.
BREAKDOWN:
GRAPHICS: 9/10
AUDIO: 10/10 (It's really quite impressive)
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
REPLAY: 10/10
TO sum it up, the graphics, gameplay and audio are really quite impressive for a game of this scale. The most vital thing about this game, it's fun. I like MW2, but sometimes I just don't have fun before a live audience it. All gets so mad and frustrated and worried about their k/d ratio or getting their killstreak. In BC2, I feel like I'm just having a fun time and I'm getting a lof of points in any case of my kills. The only thing I'm worried about is trying to win the game rather than reaping carnage lacking purpose.
Also, the knife melee gathering is really sweet. It's an overhead sharp motion that feels a lot more real and intense than in MW2.
If you're a fan of the BF series or just looking for a break from 5th standing in MW2, you've got to check this game out. |
Fantastic Game!

As I am a huge fan of BFBC1, COD4MW and CODMW2, I will not make direct comparisons. They are all fantastic in their own way. I will say that this game is a larger enhancement from BC1, than MW2 is from MW1...if that means anything to you.
The graphics are a less "cartoon-ish", for lack of a better word.
The controls are better IMO, but you change them back to BC1 if you'd like.
There are more upgrades/attachments unfilled, along with a unique way to mix and match them to your liking.
A touch I like a lot is the effect gravity has on snipers firing over long distances. It's the first game (that I know of) where the mil dots in the scope are needed to snipe. You will also have to lead your target, just like in BC1.
Huge maps, like BC1
Destructable buildings, tree, etc., like BC1.
Firing rifles in full auto is more realistic. In BC1 there wasn't much climb or wander when firing in full auto.
I would recommend it to any one looking for the closest simulation of warfare in a video game. It incorporates squad collaboration, vehicles, armor, airstrikes and much more. This makes an background where the run-and-gun Rambo types, just get owned...I like it!

War that was born to be terrible!!!!

| What sets this game far apart from others are the sounds and the sound quality. The choice of weapons and vehicles is to no avail of in this game. Unlockable weapons and gadgets to help you out in the long run when you get tired of the same ole stuff. I played one game just to test all and when a rocket is tremendous past you you can hear it take its cycle from shooting towards you to striking you or going past you if your lucky. My fav one is when they blaze past you and blow a chunk out of a construction causing massive shrapnel and debris to glide everywhere. You also get the wonderful sounds of bullets striking metal and wood as they are fired a suspecting enemies gun. The maps are unreal and so fun to play. This is where Call of Duty falls small, VEHICLES!!!!! How can Activision go so low as to take out Vehicles in a War game? I must bring up also the fact that unlike Call of Duty you have a dyed-in-the-wool server for all your online needs. The single player campaign really blew me away. The first mission was all i have played and im hooked. The unsociable WWII sirens going off and the humor and action are what sets the single player game apart. You dont need a motion sensor on your gun or a care wrap delivered to have fun. From snowy mountain areas to manufacturing plants you have it all in one game. Congrats EA and DICE. Job well done |
BF: Terrible Company 2 - Top on my list!

This game will blow you away. It is all MW2 wasn't. Don't get me incorrect, MW2 is a excellent shooter... but not on the same tier as BC2. I will review the multilayer aspect, because that is really all I bought this game for. That being said, I loved single-player on Terrible Company 1 and expect it to be at least as excellent in BC2.
The maps are Huge. You don't run around a small small sandbox that has hills dividing it into separate sections that give it the impression of being larger than it is, you run around a huge map with distanced objective points. The weapons are varied, the classes are unique and all have a use in the chemistry of the team, and the game has a very balanced feel. One doesn't choose the most "powerful" class, they choose the one that they personally like the most and it all balances out from there. The gametypes remind me of BF2 for the PC. They are polished, strategic, and valuable. Where this game really shines is that the maps have vehicles. This means you can glide a helicopter to transport people from your main base to the other locations that you want to capture. You can also drive around in Hummers, or a tank. The tanks are powerful, but a smart player can spawn as the proper class and eliminate them. Why was Modern Warfare 2 considered a excellent game? What other online shooters did the 360 have? None really... that is why. Sure, Halo 3, Gears, to name a couple, but in terms of "gritty-realistic" online games, there weren't many. Now that this shooter has made its appearance on the 360, I don't reckon there will ever be any going back. |
I don't write many reviews

First off, if you didn't like the first Front line : Terrible Company, it's worth your time to check this one out. They've done their research. It's immensely more enjoyable. Now I'll just make a very generic have a crack at comparing BC2 to MW2.
Map detail/Variety: BC2 - BC2's maps are so varied, and unique. All the game types have different maps. Fantastic! Most things are destructible, you can even bring down entire buildings now.
Visuals: TIE (BC2's visuals have a grainier look and it runs at 30fps vs MW2's 60fps, but it's still an incredibly rendered game and seems warranted given the amount of stuff going in the BC2 world. It also looks like what's being showed is not quite 720p (I'm guessing though).
Physics/Technicalities : Toss up. I reckon they've improved the way BC2 handles. I like that you can run indefinitely, but the lack of a right prone spot is missed. I know why both choices were made. The realism of the hit detection is nice. Bullets have travel time and you have to tab for arch in bullet travel on really long sniping. (Cool). Both games have a solid "feel". BC2 is a bit more cowed, where as MW2 is quick twitch, head-on-swivel type action.
Gameplay: BC2 (Just seems a lot more fresh after 2 solid years of Modern Warfare play)
Weapons: TIE (I feel a lot more compelled to unlock stuff in BC2 then to obtain 250 headshots for some rainbow camo on my weapon in MW2. A weapon unlock should be satisfying in the end, not tedious.
Multiplayer Experience: TIE (Both games offer a variety of game types that is sure to please all)
I really like what they've done with BC2. |
